Telecommunications Infrastructure
Public Safety, and Municipal Networks
Stratsoft has worked with municipalities to plan, evaluate, and manage the RFP process for First Responder wireless networks, Municipal WiFi, Cable TV INET, and BTOP stimulus projects. In addition, Stratsoft has developed data-sets for use in the government-mandated national FirstNet Network. Universal Services Fund
Now called Connect America and instead of subsidizing wireline phones it is funding broadband access, both wireless and wireline. Every TelCo that gets significant USF funds today will have to adapt to the new rules and the new competition from wireless service providers.. Stratsoft can map broadband availability and plan network upgrades to new applications to meet the new requirements. We also have experience with rural telecom and the NTIA rules. Maps from Digital Bridge, ME, and NTRC all applicable.
Commercial Wireless networks
Stratsoft has worked within the wireless sector on a range of different infrastructure development initiatives.
Macro Cell sites
Stratsoft maintains data about the location and characteristics of cell sites throughout the US and in other countries. It has worked with many of the leading Tower Operators, Mobile Network Operators, Equipment Vendors and Systems Integrators in a variety of initiatives.
- Macro-site In-Fill, site commissioning/de-commissioning, merged network rationalization, site portfolio acquisition evaluation, and network optimization
- Spectrum valuation and rationalization. Numerous network design studies for the use of different types of spectrum
- New site development. Identification, analysis and network development plans to develop portfolios of new sites for use in the cellular industry
Small Cells
For every macro cell site there will be 3-5 small cells as well as potentially WiFi radios. Stratsoft has established capability to identify where small cells would be most beneficial. It has developed data and analyzed small cell deployments for dense urban environments, tourist towns, dual use WiFi/small cell networks on behalf of Site Owners, Systems Integrators, municipalities, and Mobile Network Operators.
PTown and Philly maps are examples. Towerstream is our biggest WiFi success.
Need more information about small cells. It’s the number one Other Sector mentioned, yet it’s missing a spot-on reason why people should read on. Can we make Small Cells sexier here?) Let’s move Towerstream to Case Studies and/or embed it here to make this section POP.
Backhaul
All cell sites need backhaul with sufficient bandwidth capacity to match the burgeoning demand for capacity from wireless subscribers. Stratsoft has extensive experience of planning and designing backhaul networks using Lit and Dark Fiber, and many different types of microwave.
BNSF in TX, IDT spectrum, CapeNet all provide maps and facts.

Ethernet Business Services (EBS)
Some 27% of US businesses currently have EBS and nearly every business worldwide will want it. With Ciena, Stratsoft has developed methods for identifying clusters of businesses, forecasting their bandwidth needs and designing both fiber and microwave network extensions to reach clusters of demand.
Maps for Northern Virginia + interesting data-set
Cloud Computing. Astonishing worldwide forecast growth rate in Demand and Supply (Internet Data Centers). Stratsoft, again with Ciena, can identify where public IDCs are located as well as business locations with high computing intensity that are candidates for new communication services necessary to migrate to the Cloud. Toronto map is the best example.
Total Addressable Market (TAM) and Target Market
With Ciena (again) Stratsoft has developed methods to build a database of customer prospects and selection criteria to identify high priority targets. It sounds simple to us but customers are enthusiastic and this could become a form of standard product with data refresh repeat business. Lumos in mid-Atlantic is example materials.
